Get Half Off The Retail Price at Sept. 19 Compost Bin Sale!

One day. Four hours. Half the price.

Seriously, if you’ve ever thought about owning your own compost bin, Sept. 19 is the time to do it.

That’s because the highly-coveted Soil Saver Compost Bins will be $50 each at this one-day event being hosted by Kane County Recycles and the University of Illinois Extension Master Gardeners.

“Our intent is to help as many people as possible to recycle food scraps and landscape waste at home,” said Jennifer Jarland, Kane County Recycling Program coordinator. “Backyard composting keeps food scraps out of the landfill, thereby reducing methane release from landfills, and converts the scraps into a nutrient-rich soil amendment, which can be applied to your garden beds to help your veggies and flowers flourish.”

Kane County Recycles will be selling the Soil Saver bins at the low-cost price on Sept. 19, and there will be Master Gardeners available to talk to attendees and share “how-to” advice.

“This is a great learning opportunity,” Jarland said.

The University of Illinois Extension is located at 535 S. Randall Road, St. Charles. The brick building is on the west side of Randall Road, just north of Route 38 and south of Route 64, in front of the Kane County Fairgrounds. If you are traveling northbound, there is a left-hand turn lane into the lot.

Bins will be sold at $50 while stocks last.
