McDonald Road in South Elgin Could Open Sept. 21
The village of South Elgin is getting closer to reopening McDonald Road, which has been closed since March 6 for bridge repairs.
According to the village of South Elgin website, “the project is on schedule to open the roadway near Sept. 21, 2017.”
A Sept. 11 update to the website said the contractor will finish top soiling/seeding, install the guard rail, stripe the road and install signage in the coming days. The contractor completed paving the bike path and installing the north side stairs as of Sept. 4.
The village obtained a grant for the reconstruction of the 100-year-old bridge over Otter Creek on McDonald Road and hired Baxter & Woodman Consulting Engineers to design the replacement bridge.
