No ‘Shhhhh’ Here — St. Charles Library Introduces 2017-18 Concert Series
Usually when you think of libraries, you think of quiet. Folks of a certain generation, anyway, remember being shushed by a stern looking librarian during our youth.
Well, those times are over, pal.
St. Charles Public Library has a concert series, and it begins this year at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24, with Choro de Lá pra Cá, a multi-national trio based in Brazil and the Chicago area. The trio, comprised of Julie Koidin, Diogo Guanabar and Caio Padilha, will feature numerous instruments including flute, mandolin, cavaquinho, rabeca, and vocals.
Choro de Lá pra Cá’s unique blend of classical, Brazilian choro, jazz, and Northeastern Brazilian harmonies and rhythms has been delighting audiences in both the U.S. and Brazil since 2014. This performance is part of the group’s third U.S. tour since 2015.
Since 1981, the St. Charles Public Library has featured a wide variety of musical performances. The public is invited and the concerts are free to attend. The St. Charles Public Library is located at One South Sixth Avenue in St. Charles. For more information, visit www.stcharleslibrary.org or call 630-584-0076.
