Known for their service to the disabled, the police and the military, German Shepherds are one of the most versatile breeds around. Their history is relatively short compared to other breeds, but the impact they have made on the world is huge as stories abound about their acts of bravery protecting and saving lives.

And so it is that KCAC’s newest available little girl up for adoption, Miss Bailey, is eager to make her mark in herstory.

An owner surrender, this 2-year-old female black and tan German Shepherd is so photogenic her picture belongs on the cover of a magazine or calendar. If you look closely, you can see in her eyes the generations of strong, courageous, loyal and intelligent German Shepherd dogs that all came before her.

You can also see her playfulness, her spontaneity when she greets you with a smile and a “Let’s go play” attitude. Keep-away is her most favorite past time, but she’ll let you have the toy whenever you want because she knows she’ll win every time.

She’s not aggressive towards other dogs, but most times she just ignores them, as though she knows she has a higher purpose in life … and perhaps she does.

Training will definitely be key to Bailey’s optimistic future. Are you the one who will lead her into her history?

Congratulations to Sparky/Ted, the small but energetic little black Pomeranian with the big dog personality. He found his forever family extended into two homes! Lots of cuddle time for him.

How to Adopt

All Kane County Animal Control adoptable cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccines, including rabies. They are tested for feline leukemia/FIV and heartworm.

The usual adoption fee is $200 for dogs and $100 for cats. Adoption of two dogs is $300, and adoption of two cats is $150.

About Kane County Animal Control

It is the duty of the Animal Control Department to:

• Ensure that all domesticated dogs and cats over 4 months of age are vaccinated against rabies and have a Kane County rabies tag.
• Ensure that all reported animal bites are given precautionary attention in relation to the possibility rabies infection.
• Ensure that pet owners are instructed on proper procedures pertaining to animal bites and enforce adherence to these procedures.
• Contain loose\stray dogs in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
• Investigate nuisance dog complaints in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
• Investigate complaints of neglected and\or abused dogs.
