UPDATE: Public Invited to 9/11 Remembrance Ceremonies in Kane County

‘We Remember’ in Aurora
WE REMEMBER: The Aurora Fire Department and the Aurora Police Department will host Aurora’s annual September 11 Memorial Ceremony on Monday.
Beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 11, Aurora’s public safety officials and community members at the Aurora Central Fire Station, 75. N. Broadway.
Marking the 16th anniversary of the tragedies in New York, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania, the ceremony will feature a special Presentation of Colors and Wreath Laying Ceremony by the Aurora Fire and Police Honor Guards with remarks from Aurora Fire Chief Gary Krienitz, Aurora Police Chief Kristen Ziman and Aurora Mayor Richard C. Irvin.
“On this solemn occasion, we will stand together to reflect on that fateful day and honor those who lost their lives, “said Mayor Irvin, a veteran of the United States Army. “We will also remember the families of those who perished and all whose lives were forever changed after experiencing the tragedies of September 11, 2001.”
The ceremony will be held at the main flagpole on the grounds of the Aurora Central Fire Station, 75. N. Broadway.
Patriot Day Morning Ceremony at East Aurora High School
East Aurora School District 131 will conduct a 9/11 ceremony at 7:45 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, 2017. There ceremony will take place at the Fred Rodgers Magnet Academy, 157 Root St. Aurora.
Sept. 11 Remembrance Ceremony in Elgin
In partnership with the American Legion, the city of Elgin will host a Sept. 11 ceremony at 9 a.m. Monday at the City Hall Plaza, located behind the Robert Gilliam Municipal Complex
All are invited to attend this service to remember those in public service who lost their lives and to honor those who continue to serve today.

Illinois Flags at Half Staff on 9/11
United States and Illinois flags will be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Monday, Sept. 11, 2017.
The Department of Central Management Services has received notice from Gov. Bruce Rauner that all persons or entities covered by the
Illinois Flag Display Act are to fly the flags at half-staff in honor and remembrance of the heroes of Sept. 11, 2001, and all those who lost their lives.
Please lower the United States flags and the state flags at all buildings occupied by your agency’s personnel.
