Each school year, millions of students are finishing their final year of high school and preparing for their next stage in life, and for many, the next stage is continuing their education at the college or university of their choice.

But with all the paperwork involved, applying for college can seem overwhelming.

To take some of the stress out of the process, the Kane County Regonal Office of Education and Greater Fox River Valley Operation Snowball are partnering with College Changes Everything to host an informational workshop on college and Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) applications.

The free workshop will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, at the Kane County ROE office at 28 N. First St. in Geneva.

Attendees will be given the opportunity to apply for college and submit their FAFSA in a group setting with volunteers from local schools and community organizations on hand to assist students and parents as they work on their applications.

In preparation for the event, students and parents should come with the information that they will need to fill out their FAFSA and college applications. A list of documents required to fill out a FAFSA application can be found here. Information typically required for college applications includes:

• Date of Birth
• Residency Information
• Citizenship Information
• Family Military Information
• High School Information and Transcripts
• ACT or SAT Score
• Social Security Number
