Surprise! Recycling Extravaganza and Green Fair This Weekend!

You’ve heard of the awesome, annual Kane County Recycling Extravaganza?

This ain’t it. But there is a recycling extravaganza this weekend, it’s nearby and it is not only sanctioned but heartily endorsed by Kane County Recycling Coordinator Jennifer Jarland.

“Please spread the word about this amazing event happening in Wheaton this Saturday,” Jarland said in an email just moments ago. “This Recycling Extravaganza and Green Fair is open to ALL, so residents of Kane County can participate. Sorry for the late notice.

This particular recycling extravaganza takes place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, at the DuPage County Fairgrounds,

There is a $5 admission fee, according to the website of Scarce, the DuPage-based organization running the event. Kids age 15 and under get in free.

What can you recycle this weekend?

Bring

  • Bike accessories & helmets American Flags

  • Crayons in any condition
  • Scrap metal
  • Sheet music
  • Musical instruments
  • SLA batteries (car, boat, etc.)

The Green Fair is a big event. This fun, all-ages extravaganza will feature eco-friendly vendors, STEM/STEAM activities, and plenty of food to keep you fueled.

In addition to recycling, there are all kinds of activities new to this year, including a farmer’s market, beekeeper presentation, environmental speakers, Upcycled Maker Space for Kids and more.
