5 Best Kane Halloween Events For 5 Different Age Groups
There’s a ton o’ spooky fun coming up in Kane County, IL.
But how do you know what’s right for what age group? Aren’t there fun things adults can do, as well as kids on this popular and fun holiday weekend?
For those who want to get into the “spirit” of the season, we’ve put together a list of five age-appropriate Halloween-themed events that offer a variety of chilling and not-quite-so-chilling fun.
Family Fun (All Ages): ‘Pumpkin Weekends at Blackberry Farm’ Oct. 21, Oct. 28
There are two pumpkin weekends left to enjoy at Blackberry Farm in Aurora — and they offer great fun for kids of all ages.
The special events for each of the upcoming weekends: an awesome costume parade (led by farm ponies) at 1 p.m. Oct. 21 at the farm’s events plaza, and the “World’s Tallest Scarecrow” from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 29.
Each weekend, you’ve got carousel rides, hay wagon rides, pony rides, paddle boats, Little Farmer’s Junction (6Y & under) and tours on the “Pumpkin Train.”
Among the unique attractions is the Victorian Halloween Party that traces back to the origins of Halloween with an event host leading crafts and games. Hosted in the Huntoon House, it’s a ghoulish balance of scary and fun.
Other popular features include the Corn Crib, the famous Adventure Playground, and a 70-foot zip line.
Park hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Admission is $7 per person. Children under 2 are free.

Gather your friends and family around the campfire at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve for “Scary Stories in the Woods,” from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28.
Join the Forest Preserve District of Kane County and the St. Charles Public Library for this fun-filled evening program where master storytellers will entertain families with spooky tales and suspenseful stories.

14 And Over: ‘A Drop of Poison — Death Comes To The Tanner House’ Oct. 27-29
Some of the darkest corners of Victorian society will be illuminated at the Tanner House Museum this Halloween during the dramatized tours, “A Drop of Poison”.
Far from the sweeping skirts, straw boaters and lighthearted croquet games seen at the Aurora Historical Society on the Fourth of July, visitors will encounter men and women caught in the snares of weakness and trouble in 1895.

20- And 30-Something Adults: ‘SpookyScavenger Hunt’ Oct. 26
Amongst the woodlands, the prairie, and the fog-covered wetlands of LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve, lie clues to an unsolved mystery.
Join other 20- and 30-somethings as we go on a fun scavenger hunt around LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve for a “Haunted Who-Done-It” nature program, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26.
We’ll learn how to read the “clues” of wildlife, then apply them to our own who-done-it back at Creek Bend Nature Center. Creek Bend Nature Center is located within LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve at 37W700 Dean St., St. Charles.

Adults: ‘Kane County Cougars WitchCRAFT Beer Fest’ Oct. 28
The Kane County Cougars offer a super-fun evening for beer enthusiasts at Northwestern Medicine Field.
From 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, you’re invited to sample the best local brews at the “WitchCRAFT Beer Fest.”
Attendees will receive 18 three-ounce samples of various craft beers in their souvenir beer glass from popular brewers including Angry Orchard, Penrose, Two Brothers, Revolution, Goose Island, Hofbrahaus and Brickstone. Additional brewers will be announced as they become confirmed.
Specialty food trucks will be on site for this year’s event selling their signature items. Food trucks include Toasty Cheese, Toasty Taco and Best Truckin’ BBQ.
Mood music and seasonal movies will be playing on the videoboard and all attendees are encouraged to dress in their best Halloween costume as prizes will be awarded for most unique, scariest and best couples costume.

Tickets may also be ordered in person at Northwestern Medicine Field during normal business hours, Monday-Friday. Individual tickets are priced at $45 when purchased in advance of the event and $55 on the day of the event. There is also a designated driver ticket option for $20, which comes with water and soda.
