UPDATE: Batavia Motorcyclist Dies After Head-On Crash in Kaneville Township
A Batavia motorcyclist was transported to Delnor Hospital with potential life threatening injuries and later died after a head-on crash Friday in unincorporated Kaneville Township.
Friends and Kane County Sheriff’s Office officials confirmed Monday that Kenneth Ford, 53, died over the weekend.
According to a news release from the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at around 6:15 a.m. Friday (Sept. 29, 2017) to a report of a traffic crash with injuries on Perry Road in the curve between Harter Road and Miner Road in unincorporated Kaneville Township.
The initial investigation indicates that a Nissan Sentra driven by Jose Becerra, 48, of St. Rochelle was traveling east on Perry Road and for an unknown reason entered into the westbound lane of traffic. A Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Ford was traveling west on Perry Road, and the vehicles collided in the westbound lane of traffic.
Ford was transported to Delnor Hospital with potential life threatening injuries. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Becerra was not injured. He was issued a citation for improper lane usage.
Kane County Sheriff’s Office deputies and members of the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team are continuing to investigate the crash.
