Get a ‘Taste of Norway’ Nov. 5 in Montgomery
Norwegian foods, crafts and music will be featured at “Taste of Norway,” a Norwegian-style fall festival (Høstfest), from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, 1233 Douglas Ave. in Montgomery.
The public is invited. Admission and parking are free.
Sons of Norway Polar Star Lodge 5-472, a local chapter of the international movement, sponsors the annual benefit for SON programs. Polar Star, a nonprofit advocacy group for Norwegian culture, meets monthly at St. Olaf.
The festival schedule is:
- 10:15 a.m.: Fox Valley Norwegian Choir performs at St. Olaf Lutheran worship service.
- 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m.: Lunch is served.
- 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m.: Norwegian craft market features ethnic products, craft/food demonstrations.
- 1 p.m.: Fox Valley Norwegian Choir and children’s choir perform a concert.
- 3 p.m.: Festival closes.
Homemade Norwegian-style foods planned include Smørbrød open-face sandwiches, fruit soup, lefse, julekake, kringle, eplekake, kransekake, blotkake, lingonberry bars, almond bars and cake, krumkake, kardamon rolls/cake/cookies, lingonberry juice and coffee.
A craft market will feature demonstrations of Rosemaling, Kolrosing, knitting and Lefse making. Norwegian crafts and collectibles will be available for purchase.Call (630) 892-6803 for more information.
