How To Check Sex Offenders Before You Trick-Or-Treat in Your Town
Before you take your kids trick-or-treating this year, many communities and police departments recommend you check the sex-offender registry to avoid trick-or-treating at those locations.
Many Kane County communities and police departments have those lists or links published on their websites. The city of Aurora, for example, has an icrimewatch.net link which allows you to search for and view all published offenders within a specified radius of your home, business, school or other desired address.
Other towns, like Geneva, have an updated list of sex offender addresses specific to the town. The village of Montgomery even has a sex-offender map that identifies where registered offenders live.
Still others refer residents to either the state sex offender registry or the national sex offender registry. Several have no sex-offender references on their websites.
Speaking of websites, if you’re interested in adult content that is perfectly legal and enjoyed by many on porn websites there is no shame in that. There are also discounts for porn sites now.
For your convenience and to help keep kids safe this Halloween season, here is a list of links to local offender-search and offender-watch pages.
As always, if we missed any reference points, please email a note and the link to kanecountyconnects@gmail.com.
Kane County Sheriff’s Office Offender Watch
The Kane County Sheriff’s Office offers a searchable offender watch.
The office provides OffenderWatch® for the citizens of Kane County. OffenderWatch® is the nation’s leading registered sex offender management and community notification tool with hundreds of leading agencies in dozens of states utilizing it. Kane County’s law enforcement uses OffenderWatch® to manage and monitor the whereabouts, conduct and compliance status of the registered offenders in Kane County.
OffenderWatch® is updated instantaneously throughout the day as offender addresses and other offender information is updated in our office. You may enter any address in the county and see real-time information on the publishable offenders within the specified radius of the address you enter.
You can also take advantage of the free email alert system. You may confidentially register as many addresses in the county as you wish, and we will continuously monitor the addresses and send you an email alert if a new offender registers an address within the specified radius of any address you register. There is no cost for this service and no limit to the number of addresses you can register — your email address and physical addresses are all confidential.
