Kane County Hosts Oct. 13 Economic Development Roundtable

The Kane County Jobs Committee will host an “Economic Development Roundtable” and hear updates on the state of manufacturing and small business development in Kane County in a two-part event set for Friday, Oct. 13 .

“It is always exciting to hear the great things going on in our respective communities,” said Kane County Jobs Committee Co-Chair Brian Dahl.

The Kane County Jobs Committee will host two high-powered presentations at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Kane County boardroom in Building A of the Kane County Government Center, 719 S. Batavia Ave. in Geneva.

Steve Schiera, regional manager of Illinois Manufacturing Excellence Center, will discuss “Manufacturing in Kane County,” in the wake of National Manufacturing Day 2017.

Also at that meeting will be a presentation by Ute Westphal, program specialist for College of DuPage Small Business Development Center, which is now serving Kane County businesses.

Through COD’s Small Business Development Center, entrepreneurs and small-business owners can obtain the needed advising in management, marketing, financial and operations. The SBDC offers free, one-on-one advising and a variety of workshops to help your business not only survive but thrive.

After the Jobs Committee meeting, leaders from communities throughout Kane County will take part in an Economic Development Roundtable Luncheon.

The informal agenda includes a Q&A session regarding the Kane County Community Health Improvement Plan, a report on economic development highlights and opportunities in 2017 and an overview and tour of 25N Coworking in Geneva, one of the companies recently featured in the “Made in Kane” series on Kane County Connects. 25N Coworking’s Meagan Schoenrock will conduct the tour.
