The Zombies Are Coming! Save The City of Elgin!
For the seventh year, Elgin’s Zombie Defense Initiative team will transform downtown Elgin into a “Safe Zone” to defend against the zombie outbreak.
Nightmare on Chicago Street takes place from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, in the “Safe Zone,” which encompasses Chicago Street, Spring Street, Grove Avenue and DuPage Court.Nightmare
The event provides vendors, food, live music, entertainment, a freak show, thunderdome and much more for attendees to enjoy.
This year’s event features three stages of live music covering several generations of sound. Acts include Hairbangers Ball, 97Nine, Sushi Roll, Too White Crew, The Shagadelics, Sixteen Candles as well as several DJ sets.
The event is sure to be a palette pleaser with an Absinthe Parlor, a hookah lounge, beer and liquor vendors, and several food vendors. Nightmare on Chicago Street also feature its usual costume contest and guest of honor, Svengoolie. New this year is an expanded and centrally located medical prop area, where attendees can see the metamorphosis from human to zombie and witness surgical demonstrations.
Ticket prices are $15 and are available the night of the event at all gates.
Event admittance is open to those age 17 and older. Those under 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. No weapons of any kind, real or fake, will be permitted at the event. Consuming alcohol will require a valid I.D., which will be checked at all gates. Absolutely no strollers or outside coolers will be permitted into the “Safe Zone.”
