The annual Kane County Recessed Reflective Pavement Markers Program work will begin this week (Nov. 6, 2017), weather permitting.

The work includes installation of recessed reflective pavement markers onto 12 miles of county highways as indicated on the attached map. The pavement marker project will improve the visibility of the lane markings for the motoring public. The work is anticipated to be completed by the end of November.

Temporary daily lane closures will be required Monday through Friday to safely accomplish the work.

The Kane County Division of Transportation asks drivers to watch for workers, equipment on the roadway and shoulders, anticipate increased travel times and exercise caution while traveling in freshly painted areas.

Motorist need to be prepared to reduce their speed, exercise caution, and be extra alert. Motorist must watch for construction workers, construction vehicles entering or leaving the site, and obey flaggers and other traffic control devices within the work zone. Motorists should expect delays while traveling through the work areas. Motorists may want to add additional time to their commutes and consider the use of alternate routes while this work is being completed.

KDOT reminds drivers that it is illegal to talk on a cell phone while driving through a highway construction work zone.
