Colonial Cafe Matches Salvation Army Donations Saturday, Dec. 9
A St. Charles-based business has agreed to match donations made Saturday, Dec. 9, to Kane County area Salvation Army kettles, up to $30,000.
Colonial Cafe, which has been involved with The Salvation Army in the Tri-Cities area since 1951, said this week that it will match donations made Saturday to all the red kettles in St. Charles, Geneva, Batavia, Aurora, Naperville, Elgin, Algonquin, Crystal Lake and McHenry County.
Beverly Peterson, Fox Valley regional development director, said giving back to the community and supporting those in need is crucial, “especially during a shortened holiday season that is affecting our red kettle campaign this year.”
This is the seventh annual Colonial Cafe Match Day. The Anderson family, owners of Colonial Cafe, have partnered with The Salvation Army since the relationship started with Joe K. Anderson more than six decades ago. As part of a tradition, family members will be ringing bells at Colonial Cafe locations during Match Day.
Special kettles will be placed at Colonial Café locations in Naperville, Crystal Lake, Algonquin, Elgin, Aurora and two in St. Charles.
All contributions will stay local, organizers said, and support the services and programs of the local Salvation Army units.
A special treat card will be given to donors at the red kettles, courtesy of Colonial Café.
