Geneva Leads Snow Totals With 3.5 Inches; Wind Chill Advisory In Effect
The National Weather Service Chicago’s summary of Christmas weekend snowfall totals shows Geneva leading Kane County with 3.5 inches. That was tied for the second-highest total in northern Illinois.
Aurora in DuPage was second with 3.0 inches and Aurora in Kane was third with 2.5 inches.
The highest snow totals in Northern Illinois was Chatsworth in Livingston County, recording 4.0 inches.
A Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect through noon Tuesday.
“The cold wind chills will cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin,” the NWS said. “Expect wind chills to range from 15 below zero to 25 below zero.
A Wind Chill Advisory means that cold air and the wind will combine to create low wind chills. Frost bite and hypothermia can occur if precautions are not taken. Make sure you wear a hat and gloves.
