The FBI and area media report that two people are in custody after a robbery at Old Second Bank at 1991 W. Wilson St.

According to an ABC7 report from Sun-Times Media Wire, FBI spokesman Garrett Croon said the bank was robbed shortly before 2:05 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 12, 2017).

Because of the robbery, Batavia High School was put on soft lockdown from about 2:08 to 2:28 p.m., according to a report in the Kane County Chronicle.

The Chronicle story says Yorkville police “responded to the Menards store off Route 47 due to a report that suspects in the Batavia bank robbery were at the store.” Two suspects were taken into custody by mid-afternoon, the Chronicle story said.

According to the Sun-Times Media Wire report, police were able to identify the vehicle they believe was connected with the robbery thanks to eyewitness reports to Batavia police. Witnesses described the vehicle and told police the car fled south toward Aurora.

The vehicle was later found in the Yorkville Menard’s parking lot, reports said.
