According to a Fortune magazine article, Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, New York, and Washington D.C. will likely be Amazon’s top candidates.
“Amazon’s leaders are currently carefully evaluating each bid and we want to make sure the voices of all Chicagoans are hears,” said Chicago Deputy Mayor Bob Rivkin and Lt. Gov. Leslie Munger in a joint news release.
What’s at stake? About 50,000 new skilled jobs and tens of billions of dollars of investment to the area. HQ2 is estimated to generate $2.3 billion in construction expenditures, and have an annual average impact of close to $20 billion.
“If we succeed, HQ2 would be an unprecedented economic boon to both Chicago and to the state, and will raise the city’s stature on the global stage,” Rivkin said. “But we can’t rest until it’s a done deal.”
