Kane County Will Host ‘Startup Guide To Business’ Feb. 6
Are you confused about the steps required to open a small business in Illinois?
On Tuesday, Feb. 6, here at the Kane County Government Center, the Kane County Board Jobs Committee will be hosting “The Startup Guide to Business,” the first event in a series with the Small Business Development Center at College of DuPage.

Through the SBDC, entrepreneurs and small business owners can obtain the needed advising in management, marketing, financial and operations. The SBDC offers FREE one-on-one advising and a variety of workshops to help your business not only survive but thrive.
“Our training and advising is available for new and existing businesses,” the SBDC website says. “As a business owner, you understand the need to find expertise that is affordable and valuable. The Illinois SBDC at College of DuPage meets and exceeds on both of those requirements.”
SBDC advising and resources will:
- Provide a financial analysis or checkup.
- Help you with management assessment.
- Develop a marketing plan.
- Find potential funding options.
- Offer you a business plan analysis.
The Feb. 6 session will provide fundamental knowledge about what it takes to open a business, including understanding your entrepreneurial DNA, how to pick a name, branding, and the basic components of a business plan.
Learn about your aptitude as an entrepreneur. Understand risks, rewards, and lessons on the essential elements in launching a successful business in Illinois. By the end of the workshop you will be able to determine if you are ready to take the plunge.

Registration Policies
Registration and Fees: Payment of seminar fees may be made by check (made out to College of DuPage) or credit card (over the phone). Payment must be received to guarantee your space in an event. Please contact our office at (630) 942-2600 to make a payment.
Refund Policy: If you wish to request a refund, a full refund is given up to seven business days before the start of the seminar. No refund is granted after this times. You may also elect to send a substitute in your place. If the event is cancelled, all fees will be returned.
