Updated snow totals indicate Kane County led the Northern Illinois region for the 72-hour period ending at 6 a.m. today (Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018).

According to the National Weather Service Chicago, St. Charles had the highest amount in Illinois, with 6.9 inches during that time span. Elgin was next at 6.8 inches and Geneva right behind at 6.7 inches.

Earlier reports from the National Weather Service’s “snowmap” showed Batavia as the No. 1 spot in Kane County for snow totals, at 6.1 inches in 48 hours.

On Tuesday, Hampshire had reported 5.8 inches of snow in the 48-hour period prior to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15.

After Hampshire, St. Charles reported 5 inches as of 5 p.m. Monday. Geneva had 4.6 inches and Elburn 3.5 inches, according to the map.

The “snowmap” shows snow totals nationwide and regionally. Batavia and Hampshire made the top 20 snow totals in the area.
