Free ‘Bach Around The Clock’ Concert To Benefit Ecker Center For Mental Health

On Saturday, March 3, 2018, the First United Methodist Church of Elgin will host the premier Bach Around the Clock festival as part of their Concerts for a Cause ministry and in celebration of J. S. Bach’s 333rd birthday.

The free, 12-hour concert of Bach’s music, performed by more than 200 musicians throughout the day, will spotlight all ages performing solo and ensemble versions of his music. The performances will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at 9 p.m.

From Suzuki Strings students to Elgin Symphony Orchestra members, to Heartland Voices, as well as instrumental and vocal groups from area schools, the music will celebrate Bach’s great music. Attendees will have a chance to hear an Austin Pipe Organ, as well as a 7-foot Steinway piano.

Several Bach Around the Clock events are celebrated in cities across the country in recognition of the genius of Bach.

Although the concert is free, a donation at the door will benefit Ecker Center for Mental Health.

Ecker Center’s life-changing work has helped thousands in Elgin, St. Charles and Geneva through its advocacy, referral, and psychiatric services. If you cannot attend the concert but would like to make a donation to the Ecker Center, visit fumcelgin.org and click on “Bach Around the Clock to Benefit the Ecker Center.”

A light lunch and dinner will be available for purchase. Free parking is available in the city parking deck directly across from the church. A performance schedule will be posted on the church website. Presented by First United Methodist Church, Elgin 216 E. Highland Ave. Elgin.
