Naperville Man Faces Felony Charges After High-Speed Chase in Stolen Vehicle
The Aurora Police Department has secured numerous felony charges through the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office on an 18-year-old Naperville man who led police on a high speed pursuit in a stolen vehicle that ended when the man hit a traffic signal.

Trensae C. Ware of the 500 block of Kiowa Dr., Naperville, is charged with two counts of aggravated fleeing and eluding and single counts of leaving the scene of an injury crash and possession of a stolen motor vehicle in connection with the incident that began around 12:20 a.m. Feb. 2. He was also charged with multiple traffic violations.
Ware was driving a 2008 Honda Odyssey that was later learned to be stolen out of Downers Grove, eastbound on Benton Street in downtown Aurora, in an erratic manner. When an Aurora officer tried to stop the vehicle at Benton and Ohio, Ware took off and ended up southbound on Hill Avenue, reaching speeds of up to 80 mph.
Ware lost control of the minivan, hitting a traffic signal at Hill and Montgomery, and then tried to run from officers. He didn’t get far and was taken into custody without incident in the nearby bowling alley parking lot.
Three females — a 14-year-old from Plano, a 16-year-old from Aurora, and a 17-year-old from Kewanee — were also in the minivan, police said. Ware and two of his passengers were taken to Aurora hospitals for treatment and released. The 14-year-old was transferred to a suburban hospital for further treatment. There were no other injuries.
Ware is in the Kane County Jail and is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail. The passengers were all charged with violating curfew. Ware also had an arrest warrant for failure to appear on retail theft charges out of DuPage County.
The charges against Ware are not proof of guilt. He is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which it is the burden of the state to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
