Early voting starts Thursday (Feb. 8, 2018) for the March 20 primary.

11th District

On the Republican primary ballot, there is one contested race: the 11th District, where Nick Stella will face off against Constant G. “Connor” Vlakancic. The winner of the primary is likely to face incumbent Bill Foster in the November election. Foster is unopposed in the Democratic primary.

There are two contested races on the Democratic primary ballot: in the 6th District and 14th District.

6th District

As you can see by the chart below, seven Democratic candidates are on the ballot, vying for the likely chance to face 6th District Republican incumbent Peter Roskam, who is unopposed in the Republican primary.

The 6th District Democratic candidates are: Kelly Mazeski, Amanda Howland, Sean Casten, Jennifer Zordani, Becky Anderson Wilkins, Ryan Huffman and Carole Cheney.

14th District

Seven Democrats also are seeking their party’s nomination in the 14th Congressional District. The winner of the primary contest will likely face Republican incumbent Randall M. “Randy” Hultgren, who is unopposed in the GOP primary.

The seven Democrats on the 14th District primary ballot are Victor Swanson, John J. Hosta, Matthew Brolley, George Weber, Lauren Underwood, Jim Walz and Daniel Roldan-Johnson.

The 2018 United States elections will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018. These are called midterm elections because they take place in the middle of the presidential election term.

All 435 seats in the United States House of Representatives and 34 of the 100 seats in the United States Senate will be contested.

There are no Senate races in Illinois this time around. Senior Illinois Sen. Richard Durbin’s next election is in 2020. Junior Illinois Sen. Tammy Duckworth’s next election is in 2022.
