UPDATE March 20 Primary Results: Kane County Races — Kramer, Hain Win Sheriff Races; 2 County Board Incumbents Unseated
12:20 P.M. THURSDAY UPDATE
- Editor’s Note: This article has been updated to reflect the GOP Sheriff’s race and 16th Circuit judge vote totals.
Incumbent Republican Don Kramer will face off against Democrat Ron Hain in the November race for Kane County sheriff. Kramer defeated Kevin Tindall 27,014 to 11,504 Tuesday night in the GOP primary; Hain defeated Willie M. Mayes, Sr. 17,719 to 14,070 in the Democratic primary.
Incumbent John A. “Jack” Cunningham won over Stan Bond in the GOP primary race for Kane County clerk. Cunningham will face Democrat Nicolas G. “Nico” Jimenez in the November General Election, according to unofficial vote totals.
Perhaps the biggest surprise among County Board races was the apparent defeat of two incumbents, although one race is super close.
On the Republican ballot, Steve Weber defeated incumbent Philip Lewis 1,058 to 592 in the 13th District contest. On the Democratic ballot, Anita Marie Lewis appears to have defeated County Board District 3 incumbent Donald Ishmael by just three votes — 264 to 261, according to the Aurora Election Commission website.
On the judicial side, the Republican race for 16th Circuit Court judge is also close, but Tom Hartwell appears to be the winner in unofficial vote totals from the Kane County Clerk’s Office and AEC websites.
