Charges Filed Against Teens After $14,000 of Graffiti Damage
Here’s a cautionary tale for young people and their parents, courtesy of the Aurora Police Department.
Between 4:15 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. April 11, a 14-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl allegedly spray painted gang-related slogans and other graffiti on six vehicles, a garage, a retention wall and a dumpster all in the 100 block of Wilder Street in Aurora.
The damage was set at $14,260.
Because Aurora patrol officers knew where possible suspects in the area lived, they were able to swiftly locate the offenders, question them, and secure charges through the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office, APD spokesman Dan Ferrelli said on Facebook.
Each were charged with one felony count of Criminal Damage to Property.
The boy was released to his parents while the girl was taken to the Youth Home.
