Kane County Releases Canvassed Vote Totals From March Primary
The final, canvassed vote totals for Kane County outside the Aurora Election Commission are in and posted on the Kane County Clerk’s Office website.
The canvassed vote totals include vote-by-mail ballots, early and grace period ballots as well as election-day ballots cast in the March 20 primary. You can see them by clicking on this link to the 705-page PDF document on kanecountyelections.org.
A look at the PDF document indicates Kane County canvassed vote totals did not affected any of the outcomes of the March primary.
That said, some outcomes of local races and referendums have yet to be officially determined because canvassed totals have not as of 11 a.m. today (Thursday, April 5, 2018) been posted on the Aurora Election Commission, DeKalb County or DuPage County websites.
A note on the AEC website says certification and canvassing will be done no later than April 10. DuPage County’s website says the final counting of the vote-by-mail and provisional ballots was done Tuesday, (April 3, 2018) but documents were unavailable online.
Kane County Connects will post those totals when they are released by official sources.
Vote totals from Aurora, DeKalb and DuPage election commissions are important to determine the outcome of several close primary races and referendums whose geographic borders straddle multiple election offices.
Regarding referendum contests in the March primary, the closest was in Maple Park, where unofficial totals from Kane and DeKalb counties indicate a one-vote victory for a non-home-rule “retailors and services tax.” Also close was the Hampshire Fire Protection District’s proposed tax increase for emergency and rescue crews and equipment purposes.
Regarding Kane County races, there were close contests in the unofficial tallies for the 16th Circuit Court judge race in the Republican primary and the County Board District 3 Democratic primary race.
