“Kane County has proven to be a great place to live work and play,” said Barb Jeffers, executive director of the Kane County Health Department. “Being number seven says our county has great opportunities to exercise with our numerous parks, bike and walking trails. We have five hospitals and numerous medical facilities that offer exceptional medical care and dedicate their time and energy working toward providing access to those who do not have it.
“We have access to good, nutritional food and many community gardens. All of these things and more contribute to a safe and healthy lifestyle.”
Jeffers said that, while Kane County’s No. 7 ranking is great news, there are places we can do better.
“It’s up to all of us,” she added. “We can lead healthier lives by increasing our graduation rates, stop smoking, reduce our waistlines and work towards healthier lifestyles. As a community we work together to ensure that we take responsibility for our health and wellbeing. You, too, can be a champion in your community.”
