Following a week-long drug investigation, members of the Kane County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigation Unit have arrested an 18-year-old Geneva man on felony charges of manufacture and delivery of a prescription drug, possession of a controlled substance and obstruction of justice.

According to a Sheriff’s Office news release, sheriff’s deputies in partnership with officers from the Geneva and Batavia police departments executed a search warrant at around 8 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, at a private residence located at 747 Anderson Boulevard, Geneva, where they arrested Jacob Keen in the basement of his home.

Keen was near a sump pump when officers arrived, “and it appeared he had thrown what looked like prescription pills into the sump pump pit,” the Sheriff’s Office news release said.

Officers also found about 36 Xanax pills in Keen’s possession for which Keen did not have a prescription.

The estimated street value of the pills is $720, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Keen was taken into custody and transported to the Kane County Adult Justice Center.

The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office authorized the following charges against Keen:

• Manufacture/delivery of a prescription drug, a Class 3 felony.
• Possession of a controlled substance, a Class 4 felony.
• Obstruction of justice, a Class 4 felony.
• Unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor.

Keen went to bond call on Wednesday, April 25, and was released on his own recognizance.

The charges against Keen are not proof of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the state’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
