St. Charles has held an annual Arbor Day celebration since 1998 to support tree education and stewardship. Arbor Day was founded in 1872 by J. Sterling Morton, and St. Charles continues this tradition celebrating the connection between trees and people, and the many benefits of trees.
Public Services Manager A.J. Reineking said St. Charles’ diverse urban forest is a valuable asset to our community, and the Natural Resources Commission and the city work hard to keep it and healthy and vibrant.
“Education opportunities like the Arbor Day Program are important to spread the word about the vital role trees have in maintaining the environment,” he said.
