Top 10 Kane County Taxpayers — Who’s Paying The Most in This Year?

  • Editor’s Note: This is the third in a series of articles on Kane County Connects regarding the 2017 property tax bill payable in 2018. Tax bills will be available on the Kane County Treasurer’s Office website starting April 30 and sent out to Kane County residents, starting May 4, 2018. Subsequent articles will look at an estimate of the average property tax bill by township and where the property tax money comes from and where it goes.

One piece of good news for residential property taxpayers in Kane County is that there are some heavy hitters that are taking on a lot of that tax burden — folks with property tax bills that make yours and mine look tiny.

A case in point is the No. 1 property taxpayer in Kane County — Simon/Chelsea Chicago Development — which this year will pay $6,122,703 in property taxes alone.

The biggest tax benefactor of that particular piece of property might be Batavia School District 101, which receives a big portion of the outlet mall’s tax bill.

What other properties made the top 10 list for 2017 property taxes payable in 2018? To find out, read on.
