Elgin To Kick Off National Public Works Week With May 19 Open House
The city of Elgin’s Public Works Department will host its annual open house from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 19, at the Public Services Building, located at 1900 Holmes Road in Elgin.
The public is invited to attend this free, family-friendly event which provides the opportunity to learn more about the public works systems and services that are vital to the community’s health, safety and well-being.
During the open house, visitors can take a self-guided tour through the public works facility and view specialized equipment like vehicles, sewer cameras, engineering displays, and water distribution equipment. Children can enjoy rides in the snow plow trucks, street sweepers and even a small train.
There will be free food and giveaways available.
