Grade Schoolers Can Explore Nature During Wild Things Wednesdays
Hey, Kane County parents!
Looking for some fun summer activities to keep your kids engaged during the summer months?
How about sending kids on a new, naturalist-led adventure each week? You can do exactly that by entering your kids in the Forest Preserve District of Kane County’s “Wild Things Wednesdays” nature programs.
Kids will explore the woods, search for wildlife in the prairie, wade in the creek, learn about aquatic life and more in these programs designed for kids entering first through sixth grades. Register your child for one, two, or any combination of these seven programs.
- Creek Exploration: 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, June 20, at LeRoy Oakes Forest Preserve, 37W700 Dean St., St. Charles.
- Woodland Adventure: 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, June 27, at Fabyan Forest Preserve, 1925 Batavia Ave., Geneva.
- Animal Tracking: 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, July 11, at Burnidge Forest Preserve, 38235 Big Timber Road, Elgin.
- Insect Investigations: 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, July 18, at Big Rock Forest Preserve, 46W072 Jericho Road, Big Rock.
- Reptiles and Amphibians: 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, July 25, at Dick Young Forest Preserve, 2S326 Nelson Lake Road, Batavia.
- Life by the Lake: 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Oakhurst Forest Preserve, 1680 Fifth Ave., Aurora.
- Rock Hunt: 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Camp Tomo Chi-Chi Knolls, 40W095 Freeman Rd., Gilberts.
The registration fee is $30 per session, or $200 for all seven sessions. Advance registration is required for these programs.
