The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning is in the final stages of drafting the region’s next comprehensive plan, ON TO 2050. Area residents will have the opportunity to review the draft and provide feedback by attending one of several open house events held across the region.

Kane County will be hosting an open house on the evening of June 27 at the Kane County Government Center.

The comprehensive plan reviews and prioritizes many large projects that enhance quality of life within the seven counties that fall under CMAP’s purview: Kane, Lake, Will, Cook, DuPage, Kendall, and McHenry. The comprehensive plan provides not only a look at what Chicago will look like by 2050, but also takes into account population growth, and socioeconomic projection over the next 3 decades.

CMAP plans to officially launch ON TO 2050 at a special event being held from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 10, 2018, at Millennium Park in Chicago. Until then, CMAP continues to finalize a draft plan for review by the public.

In February, CMAP began reviewing sections of the plan and a copy of regionally specific projects was presented to CMAP’s transportation committee in April.

Next, CMAP will seek public input from the region’s communities through open house events held throughout the Chicagoland area. These public engagement sessions will allow CMAP to make final modifications to the draft plan reflecting specific community needs and concerns on a range of topics including economic conditions, inclusive growth, transportation, and flooding and climate change.

All are welcome to attend the Kane County Government Center’s open house event to learn more about CMAP and the ON TO 2050 plan. CMAP staff will be present to answer any questions.
