The new age of technology has made a lot of financial tasks much easier like now you can pay road tax online. Another new tool to help make taxes easier has been developed as Kane County now offers a state-of-the-art, property-tax information website that provides tons of valuable information and lets you pay your property taxes online.

The tax inquiry page looks like this.

It’s called DevNet, and you have to see it to believe it, Kane County Supervisor of Assessments Mark Armstrong said.

“For the first time, Kane County taxpayers will be able to see all information we have about their property, from assessments to exemptions to taxes, and even maps of neighborhood sales — all in one place.”

At this one-stop shop, you can find your property with a simple search, print or download your tax bill, find out the sale prices of property near you, discover how much you paid to each taxing body or pay your property-tax bill online.

And that’s just for starters.

“This is a great new website for accessing online assessment and tax information,” Kane County Treasurer Dave Rickert said. “It will be useful for title searchers and tax preparers, as well as residents. And interacting with the Treasurer’s Office at tax bill time will be easier than ever, with a ‘pay taxes’ link on the wEdge page.”

How To Get Started

Start by clicking on http://kaneil.devnetwedge.com.

From there, just enter simple search data — your last name and house number is enough — and you’ll see your parcel highlighted on a map.

At this point, you can click on “BirdsEye” and find an aerial view of your property.

Or you can zoom out and see the recent sales prices of property near yours.

Or maybe you’d like to know how much you paid each taxing district — or will pay with this year’s tax bill. Click on the “taxing bodies” tab, and you’ll see both a graphic and a pie chart.

At any time, you can print your tax bill. This feature is especially handy when you’re filling out your income tax forms.

Or you can pay online. Just be sure to note that there is a fee for paying via credit card.

There are also valuable links to additional information, such as whether you’re eligible for a property tax exemption, property tax FAQs and lists of township assessors.

Transparency And Convenience

Kane County Clerk John “Jack” Cunningham emphasized that the new site is all about transparency and convenience.

“The information is public knowledge and will be free and accessible 24/7,” he said. “Taxpayers of Kane County have been asking for better online access for quite some time, and we are excited to be offering this new service to the public.”

The new website is available from the individual sites of each county official, www.KaneCountyAssessments.org, www.KaneCountyClerk.org, and www.KaneCountyTreasurer.org, as well as from www.CountyofKane.org.
