Don’t be surprised if a giggle escapes your lips when you first meet Rakki, KCAC’s 8-year-old male Miniature Schnauzer-mix and little shelter clown.

As he runs over to you with his mouth wide open in a silly grin and his eyes shining in excitement over the prospect of greeting people, you get the feeling that he’s performing his silly antics just for you.

Growing older hasn’t slowed Rakki down one bit. In fact, he acts as though it’s not even a factor as he plays fetch like a puppy and sniffs every blade of grass, bush and tree in his vicinity. Exploring the great outdoors is his favorite pastime, especially when taking long walks with his person.

Rakki gets along very well with other dogs no matter the size, but he much prefers the attention of people, mainly because he likes to hold one-way conversations with anyone who is willing to listen.

In order to keep Rakki’s stud-muffin personae, his new family will have to keep him groomed on a regular basis because his hair can become overgrown very quickly.

If you’re willing to look on the other side of the rainbow for that hidden treasure, you most certainly will find Rakki who is ready, willing and able to add a bit of fun, laughter and brightness to your world.

KCAC ‘Pupdates’

Mickleson

Congratulations to Mickleson, the little wire-haired Dachshund/Yorkshire Terrier mix. Mickleson made quite the impression with his new owners on how active he is. He is now happily exploring his new world.

Bobby

Bobby, the “que sera, que sera” yellow lab, found his forever home and is getting all the tummy rubs he can possibly handle.

Knight

Knight, our 2-year-old, long-haired black Chihuahua, was also adopted last week. Little Knight has a big-dog personality stuffed into a very small body.

We are so happy for you, little man!

How to Adopt

All Kane County Animal Control adoptable cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all vaccines, including rabies. They are tested for feline leukemia/FIV and heartworm.

The adoption fee is $200 for dogs and $100 for cats. Adoption of two dogs is $300, and adoption of two cats is $150. The adoption fee for cockatiels is $25.

About Kane County Animal Control

It is the duty of the Animal Control Department to:

• Ensure that all domesticated dogs and cats over 4 months of age are vaccinated against rabies and have a Kane County rabies tag.
• Ensure that all reported animal bites are given precautionary attention in relation to the possibility rabies infection.
• Ensure that pet owners are instructed on proper procedures pertaining to animal bites and enforce adherence to these procedures.
• Contain loose\stray dogs in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
• Investigate nuisance dog complaints in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
