UPDATE: Missing Developmentally Delayed Woman Found Safe
The North Aurora Police Department said Monday that a missing developmentally delayed 19-year-old female has been found.
Anna M. Small-Tuttle, a ward of the state who was in residential care at Maryville Academy, 591 W. Bartlett Road, Bartlett, was reported missing Friday. She had been missing since Wednesday, May 2, Small-Tuttle, when she exited a vehicle at the intersection of Orchard Road and Oak Street in North Aurora while being transported by two youth-care workers.
She had been heading east on foot from the intersection at about 2:20 p.m. An extensive search of nearby neighborhoods and businesses was conducted, but Small-Tuttle was not located.
She did not have a cell phone or any friends or family in the North Aurora area, police said.
On May 3 between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., she checked into the Emergency Department at Presence Mercy Medical Center in Aurora using the name Anna Tuttle. Police did not know where she went subsequent to discharge.
Police did not release details about how she was found but said she was found safe late Friday. North Aurora thanked area residents and media for getting out the word on social media.
