Gilberts got the most rain Sunday night to early Monday morning. But St. Charles moved into the lead for 48-hour rain totals, recording 2.34 inches as of this morning (Tuesday, May 15, 2018).

Elgin was next, with 1.94 inches, following by Geneva with 1.72 inches and Batavia with 1.69 inches, according to the National Weather Service Chicago.

The top rain producer in the region was Gurnee, which collected 3.39 inches of rain in the 48-hour period.

Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will be possible through early afternoon today (south of Interstate 80. Severe weather is not expected, but isolated gusty winds and small hail may occur with the strongest cells.

Elsewhere across the area, there were reports of hail and wind damage.

According to the NWS, the Algonquin Tailwater and Fox River at Montgomery are at risk of hitting the “moderate” flood level by today or Wednesday.
