7 Shot, 1 Critically Injured Sunday at Child’s Birthday Party in Aurora

Seven people were shot in an apparent gang-related incident during a child’s birthday party early Sunday (June 10, 2018) on Aurora’s Near West Side, according to an Aurora Police Department Facebook post.

Just after midnight, Aurora responded to a home in the 300 block of West Park Avenue and discovered six people suffering from gunshot wounds. The seventh person was driven to an Aurora hospital by a relative during the initial investigation.

Police said the shooters arrived at the child’s birthday party on bicycles and on foot, fired multiple rounds, then fled north on Grand Avenue. The only suspect information is that the shots were fired by several males dressed in dark hooded sweatshirts. It also appears that someone at the party returned fire, police said.

Those hit were five men, ages 21, two 22-year-olds, and a 25- and 28-year-old. The 21-year-old is in critical condition. Two women, ages 27 and 30, were also shot.
