Aurora Police: Suspect’s Wardrobe Choice Leads to Burglary Charges
Ever wonder why police describe what the suspect was wearing at the scene of a crime? After all, anyone can just change clothes and make the description moot, right?
Well, this incident reported on the Aurora Police Department Facebook page shows why, to paraphrase Shakespeare, clothing sometimes does indeed make the man.

Around 2:20 a.m. June 9, a convenience store in the 800 block of Oliver was broken into and more than $3,000 in merchandise was stolen, Aurora Police Department spokesman Dan Ferrelli said via Facebook.
After watching surveillance video, the store’s owner saw the suspect walking in the 600 block of South River Street at about 7:15 p.m. the same day. The owner called 911 then confronted the man who was wearing some of the same clothing as depicted in the video.
When an Aurora police officer arrived on scene, the suspect ran but was caught after a short foot chase.
Charged through the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office with burglary and obstructing police was Rodney Slaughter, 47, of the 600 block of S. River St. Slaughter was on parole for burglary at the time of his arrest.
Slaughter is being held in the Kane County Jail in lieu of $107,000 bail.
The charges are not proof of guilt. Slaughter is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which it is the burden of the state to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
