MONDAY UPDATE: How Hot Was It This Weekend? Heat Index Hits 102

The National Weather Service Chicago’s Excessive Heat Warning continues for Cook County and the city of Chicago, in effect until 7 p.m. today (Monday, June 18). Kane County is under a heat advisory.

Hot and humid conditions will remain today, including to the lakefront. Afternoon heat indices will top out in the 98 degree to 105 degree range during the afternoon.

“Remember to practice heat safety!” the NWS said.

How Hot Was It?

Kane County’s excessive heat was about par for the area, with a high temperature of 93 degrees and heat index of 102 recorded at Sugar Grove Airport.

The highest temperature in Illinois was 95 degrees at Midway Airport. The highest in the region was 97 degrees at Valparaiso Airport.
