Weekend Rainfall Totals: Aurora Leads Kane With 2.29 Inches

Several rounds of showers and thunderstorms Friday through Sunday produced hefty rainfall totals for many areas across the region, with Aurora’s 2.29 inches leading the league in Kane County.

Batavia was just behind with 2.20 inches, followed by Elgin with 2.11 inches and Elburn with 2.07 inches, according to the National Weather Service Chicago.

Areas south of I-80, where precipitation had been significantly below average this spring, were hardest hit.

For example, Chatsworth in southeast Livingston County only received 4.77 inches of precipitation for meteorological spring (March through May) and then picked up a whopping 5.23 inches Friday through Sunday and is up to 5.73 inches of rain for June.
