IDOT: Lane Closures This Week on IL 72 Affect Kane County Communities
The Illinois Department of Transportation announced Wednesday (July 11, 2018) that lane closures will take place on Illinois 72 between Reinking Road and Van Buren Street in Pingree Grove, West Dundee, East Dundee, Sleepy Hollow and Elgin beginning this week.
The lane closures are necessary for a resurfacing and sidewalk improvement project along Illinois 72.
To complete the work, daytime lane closures will take place in both directions on Illinois 72 from Reinking Road to Van Buren Street, reducing Illinois 72 to one lane in each direction with flaggers. Intermittent closures also will take place on sidewalk ramps within the project limits. Access to residences and businesses will not be affected.
The scope of the project consists of resurfacing and concrete patching along IL 72. It also includes new pedestrian ramps compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The overall project is expected to be completed in the fall.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
