The Kane County Sheriff’s Office hosts the Big Kahuna of National Night Out events Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018, at the Kane County Judicial Center campus, 37w755 IL Route 38 in St. Charles.

Sponsored by the Sheriff’s Office and Neighborhood Watch, the night of fun and educational events takes place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The event features the popular Flight For Life helicopter landing, community-building activities, fun and educational resources, visits with Kane County K-9 officers, food and entertainment for kids.

Also on hand will be representatives of the Kane County Coroner’s Office, Kane County Division of Transportation, Kane County Emergency Communications, Kane County Farm Bureau, Mounted Rangers and Kane County Office of Emergency Management.

“National Night Out is an annual nationwide event that inspires residents to become involved in the ​​community, get to know their neighbors and encourages crime ​​prevention through personal interaction with local law enforcement officers,” the Sheriff’s Office website says. “Tour our facilities, pick up crime prevention material, and learn about safety tips and techniques directly from your public safety officers.

“NNO is not just for cities and municipalities —​ meet your extended neighbors in unincorporated Kane County.”

More than 40 neighborhoods throughout Aurora are planning events big and small to celebrate National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018.

With the theme “A Night to Unite,” Aurora’s National Night Out encourages residents to come outside and spend the evening getting to know their neighbors, community partners, public safety, elected and city officials.

“We are one community, and National Night Out is a powerful example of our unity and collaboration,” said Aurora Mayor Richard C. Irvin. “This one night provides both an opportunity to connect with neighbors and a foundation to build upon for future neighborhood-based and community-wide initiatives.”

Village of Campton Hills presents 12^th Annual National Night Out

The 12^th Annual National Night Out in the village of Campton Hills will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7. The location will be on School Street between IL Route 64 and LaFox Road.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and resident camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out events are held with more than 38 million people in 16,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide.

More than 20 organizations and local businesses will provide safety, health, environmental and community education. Simulated firefighting, facing painting, contests and demonstrations will be available for children and families. Live animals will be on-site. Free snacks and beverages will be available.

“National Night Out is a great way to partner with your Police Department, community and neighbors,” Police Chief Steve Millar said. “National Night Out triumphs over a culture that wants to isolate us from each other and allows us to rediscover our own community.”

Free Cookout Among Events in Elburn

National Night Out is nationally sponsored by NATW, Dietz and Watson, ADT, Kings Hawaiian, Associa, Ring and co-sponsored locally by Elburn Police Department.

The annual community-building campaign promotes police-community campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. Together, we are making that happen.

From 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Lions Park, neighbors throughout the village of Elburn and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on their front porch lights and spend the evening outside with Neighbors and law enforcement.

Along with the traditional outside lights and front porch vigils, most cities and towns celebrate National Night Out by hosting block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and other various community events, with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel and exhibits.

National Project Coordinator, Matt Peskin said the event is special in Elburn.

“This is a night for our nation to stand together and promote awareness, safety, and neighborhood unity,” he said. “National Night Out showcases the vital importance of police-community partnerships and citizen involvement. When law enforcement and community work closely together, some amazing things can happen.”

NNO in Elburn features FREE giveaways for kids, a FREE cookout sponsored by Elburn Police Department, Ream’s Meat Market, Elburn Lions Club, and your local Jewel / Osco. A FREE eye screening will also be available compliments of Elburn Lions Club.

The Elburn & Countryside Fire Protection District will be having a Children’s Fire Hazard Obstacle Course, Hands-on Fire Extinguisher Demo and Simulator, and “Touch a Truck” event with fire engine and ambulance vehicles.

Elgin’s Citywide Block Party, National Night Out, tips off at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at Festival Park.

Residents are invited to celebrate America’s Night Out Against Crime with crime prevention, safety, and health resources from Elgin Police and Fire Departments and many community partners.

There will also be several children’s activities, like the Fire Safety Smoke House, inflatables, a splash-pad, train and fire pole. In addition, there will be a K9 demo, and a movie in the park at dusk.

North Aurora to Participate in ‘National Night Out’ Against Crime

On Tuesday, Aug. 7, neighborhoods throughout North Aurora are invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the “35th Annual National Night Out” crime and drug prevention event.

National Night Out, is designed to: (1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts; (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships; and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, residents in neighborhoods throughout North Aurora and across the nation, are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and police.

Many neighborhoods throughout North Aurora will be hosting a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, and other gatherings. There will be visits from police, including McGruff the Crime Dog, and the fire department. We’ll be showing off our vehicles and interacting with the residents and kids.
