First Day of School Is Tuesday (Aug. 14) For Many Kane County Students

Are you ready for the first day of school in Kane County?

Hard to believe, but that day is almost here.

In fact, the 2018-19 school year starts Tuesday, Aug. 14, for School District 300 students, and U-46 and Batavia schools open doors on Wednesday, Aug. 15. East Aurora School District 131 students start school Thursday, Aug. 16.

For many other Kane County public schools, the first day is Tuesday, Aug. 21, or Wednesday, Aug. 22.

The first day of the fall semester for Waubonsee Community College and Elgin Community College is Monday, Aug. 20.

First Day of School for Kane County Public Schools

School District 300

District 300 would like to remind our community that the 2018-2019 school year begins on Tuesday, Aug. 14. (Preschool students begin Aug. 15.)

Elementary schools will run from 8 a.m. to 2:15 p.m., middle schools from 8:55 a.m. to 3:40 p.m., and high schools from 7:30 a.m. to 2:58 p.m.

School District U-46

Classes resume Aug. 15 for more than 39,000 kindergarteners through 12th graders across School District U-46.

The school year promises continued innovation and excellence, including the district’s universal play-based full-day kindergarten program, the addition of guidance counselors to middle school, and, at the high school level, an upgraded math curriculum and the expansion of its award-winning Dual Language program.

Central School District 301

Central 301 Elementary Schools will host Meet and Greet events from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21.

St. Charles School District 303

Batavia School District 101

The annual Corn Boil at Batavia High School is the kick off to the BPS101 school year. The event takes place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17.

Aurora West School District 129

Beginning Aug. 10, West Aurora High School student schedules will be available via Home Access. Hard copies of student schedules will also be available in each respective house during Walk the Building Days. Students are encouraged to come into the building to find their School lockers, walk their schedule and familiarize themselves with the physical layout of the building during this time.

Aurora East School District 131

District 131 students, elementary through high school, will have a chance to visit their classroom and meet their teacher before the start of the school year. From 2 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, students can stop by their school with a guardian, see their classroom, and meet their teacher during this time.
