Aurora Animal Care and Control and the Humane Society of Aurora are collaborating with NBC and Telemundo television stations this weekend to find loving homes for pets in need during the annual “Clear the Shelters” event.

AACC will host the Clear the Shelters event from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at its facility located at 600 S. River St.

As part of the one-day adoption drive, all adoption fees are waived for dogs and cats 6 months or older.

The goal is to “clear the shelters” by finding forever homes for as many animals as possible. During previous events, more than 20,000 pets were adopted across the country in just one day.

Although fees are waived, all other adoption requirements apply.
