Meet ‘Harry Moon’ Author, Get Discounts at ROE’s First-Ever Back to School Book Fair
Kane County students, parents and teachers will have a chance to meet a best-selling author, find discounts on school supplies and books and make donations to worthy education causes at the Kane County Regional Office of Education’s first ever Back to School Book Fair.
The book fair — set to take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Geneva Commons Barnes and Noble, 102 Commons Drive, Geneva — will feature a book signing session from Mark Poe, the author of best-selling children’s book series Harry Moon, read aloud sessions with local elected officials, pictures with costumed characters and more.
Gift baskets filled with classroom supplies will also be raffled off during the event.
Plus, teachers who bring their teacher’s ID will receive a 20 percent discount on books, games and toy purchases for their classroom.
The book fair will also have a donation table for school supplies for homeless/neglected students in Kane County and a table where books can be purchased to donate to the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center School Library.
Regional Superintendent Patricia Dal Santo is excited to host the ROE’s first Back to School Book Fair.
“This event will be a fun way to kick off the 2018-2019 school year for kids, parents, and teachers. It also provides an opportunity for the community to support Kane County students in need,” she said.
A percentage of purchases made at Barnes & Noble during the book fair will be donated to the Kane Excellence in Education Partnership and the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center School Library. The proceeds will support scholarships, educational activities, at-risk programming, and necessary educational services for Kane County students.
Those interested in attending and learning more can RSVP on the event’s Facebook page here. Make sure to follow the Kane ROE on Facebook and Twitter to see exciting updates posted leading up to and during the book fair with #ROEBookFair.
