Impact From Tropical Storm Gordon
According to the NWS, we should expect periods of rain showers through late this afternoon, mainly south of I-90. The rain focus for Thursday night through Sunday looks to be south of I-80.
As the remnants of Tropical Cyclone Gordon approach over the weekend, bands of heavy rain are possible, with a very sharp cutoff in the heavy rainfall amounts from south to north.
Depending on the track of the system, the axis of heaviest rain may shift either north or south. The latest thinking on potential rainfall totals for today through Sunday indicate a lighter rain for the Kane County area. However, the NWS Chicago suggests that there is still time for the heavy rain axis to shift north.
