Campton Township will host its annual event, Prairie Fest, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at Historic Corron Farm, 7N761 Corron Road, Campton Hills, IL.

There will be a ceremony at noon dedicating the plaque for Corron Farm being listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The event will feature tours of the 1850s brick Corron home. Letters and other documents dating back to the Civil War will be on display.

The always popular tractor pulled wagon tours of the savanna, wetlands, and prairie will run during the event (weather and ground conditions permitting). Square dancing demonstrations will be held from 1 to 3 pm.

Elgin Public Museum; Elgin History Museum, Fox Valley Wildlife Center, Kane County Mounted Patrol, and Wasco Nursery will have displays. There will also be a Native American artifacts display.

Members of the 1st Brigade Illinois Volunteers will be on hand to fire their cannon on the hour. There will be a children’s corner with face painting, seasonal crafts and goats to feed.

Local honey and cheese will be for sale as well as photos by a local photography club and handmade jewelry.

Hot dogs, BBQ pork, and rotisserie chicken sandwiches from The Lodge on 64 will be available for purchase.
