Campton Hills Restaurant Makes Chicago Magazine’s October ‘Hot List’

There are just certain restaurants that people are talking about — those that have a buzz for their uniqueness and quality.

One of those, this month, is Balmoral, billed as “Scottish cooking in Kane County.”

“Congratulations to Balmoral Restaurant on being named one the top 10 hottest restaurants in Chicagoland,” Campton Hills officials said in the latest edition of the “Community Counts” e-newsletter.

The recognition comes from Chicago Magazine’s “2018 Hot List” for the month of October, and the billing is especially pleasing for Kane County residents because it’s the only restaurant on the Top 10 list outside the city of Chicago.

Balmoral Restaurant’s website describes the fare this way:

“Hadrian’s Wall duck breast. Auld Lang Syne mushroom ribeye. Campsie Glen chicken. Chilled shrimp and watermelon with goat’s cheese under a honey drizzle. Deviled eggs with avocado and jalepeno. Highlander’s cock-a-leekie soup. Great Granny’s braised rabbit pie. Gleneagle’s rack of venison. Perthshire’s pleasant peasant’s pheasant …

“And so much more. Come taste for yourself!”

The restaurant’s Scotch whisky is imported from the mainland, and the ambience is highlighted by “lush, dark and Scottish wood tones.”

“A deep-set coffered ceiling hides recessed lighting, designed to light your table elegantly and exclusively, providing just the right mood,” the website says. “Scottish designs surround you, from the tartan carpet, to wrought iron fixtures, to the swords and shields of lore, to wall murals that evoke the placid Scottish countryside.”

Good luck getting reservations, but if you want to take a shot, here’s the link for more information.
