Elgin Offers Residents Low-Cost Vaccinations, Microchipping For Pets
The city of Elgin’s Fall Pet Health and Safety Event is set for 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at the lower level of the Hemmens Cultural Center, located at 45 Symphony Way in Elgin. The event provides low cost vaccinations and microchipping to pets of Elgin citizens.
Dogs and cats are welcome to this event. No appointments are necessary as services are offered on a first come, first served basis.
A $50 package includes a rabies vaccine, Kane or Cook County tags and registration, and a booster shot. The booster shot prevents canine distemper, parvovirus, adenovirus and para influenza virus.
Due to Kane County price increases, the package costs $65 for those Kane County residents with pets older than 1 year and not spayed or neutered.
In addition to the vaccine package, residents may microchip their pets for $35 and get a heartworm test for $25.
This event is for pets of Elgin residents only. A government issued photo ID is required proving incorporated Elgin residency. The event is cash only and animals must be leashed at all times.
State law requires that dogs and cats over four months of age be vaccinated against rabies.
